Introduction

George Square is one of the most famous squares in Glasgow, named after King George III and built during the Victorian era. The square is adorned with many statues of famous Glasgow and Scottish figures, such as Robert Burns and the steam engine inventor James Watt. The central column pays tribute to Sir Walter Scott, a Scottish writer and the first Scott statue in Britain. Walking around the square, you can enjoy different scenery on all sides. To the east is the Glasgow City Hall, to the north is the Queen Street Railway Station, and to the west is Queen Street. The surrounding buildings are characteristic of the Victorian era and have frequently appeared in movies, such as Brad Pitt's World War Z. Before Christmas, the square is transformed into a vibrant ice-skating rink where people can gather and have fun.
