Introduction

The Scottish Parliament is located in the Holyrood area of Edinburgh and is situated within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Edinburgh. Construction began in June 1999 and after a long and complicated building process, the first debate was held on September 7, 2004. The architect of the building was Enric Miralles from Catalonia, Spain and his unique style caused some controversy. Today, the building has become an iconic symbol of Scottish politics and culture and is highly appreciated and loved by people.
