Introduction

Holyrood Park, also known as Queen's Park or King's Park, is a historic royal park in Scotland. The park covers 650 acres and includes spectacular highland landscapes such as mountains, lakes, valleys, and volcanic cliffs. The park is connected to the Royal Palace of the Holyroodhouse, which was built in 1451 and was once surrounded by a stone wall. At that time, James V owned the land and used it as a royal hunting ground. Nowadays, the park is open to the public and features Arthur's Seat, which is the highest point in Edinburgh, as well as the Salisbury Crags to the west of the peak. The park also has three lakes – St. Margaret's Loch, Dunsapie Loch, and Duddingston Loch. The ruins of St. Anthony's Chapel are located on the shore of St. Margaret's Loch. The main road in the park is called Queen's Drive and is partially closed on Sundays to allow pedestrians to walk safely. St. Margaret's Well and St. Anthony's Well are natural springs in the park that provide clear drinking water. Holyrood Park is located in the southeastern part of the old town and is a popular tourist destination and a great place for nature relaxation.
