Introduction

The Prince Albert Memorial is located opposite the Royal Albert Hall in London, adjacent to Kensington Gardens. Built in 1876, the monument is a towering 175ft (50m) tribute to Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert. Designed in the new Gothic style, the monument resembles a vast medieval temple adorned with rich reliefs, sculptures and decorations. As a masterpiece of Queen Victoria, the Gothic-style monument symbolizes her love for her husband, and is also one of the most magnificent and grandest monuments of the Victorian era.
