Introduction
The New Castle, also known as the Castel Nuovo or Angevin Castle, is the first castle built under the order of the king of Naples. Today, it includes the Civic Museum (Museo Civico) and castle ruins. In the main exhibition of the museum, visitors can admire many beautiful painting works, and the observation deck on the second floor allows people to enjoy the beautiful sea view. It is worth noting that the castle ruins are located on the ground floor, where there are ancient buildings and human skeletons under the transparent glass floor. Therefore, if you suffer from acrophobia, please be extra careful.
In addition, the New Castle also has the Sala Dei Baroni (Barons’ Hall), which has a unique architectural style. If you like to try vending machines and automatic coffee machines, the ground floor of the New Castle also provides such services. Enjoying a cup of coffee here only costs 0.5 euros, making it a very affordable and worthwhile experience. Opening hours Monday to Saturday 9:00-19:00, last entry at 18:00, closed on Sunday.
Transportation Take the R1, R2, 140, N3, or N1 to Piazza Municipio, and get off at the first stop.
