Introduction
This church is one of the Roman Catholic churches, and the patron saint is Ignatius of Loyola. It was built between 1626 and 1650 in Baroque style, originally as a subsidiary church of the Roman College. In 1584, the Roman College moved to a new location, becoming the Pontifical Gregorian University. Since then, the church has been the leading church of the cardinal priests. In 1685, Jesuit follower Andrea Pozzo painted a spectacular mural on the ceiling of the nave. The painting depicts Saint Ignatius being welcomed in heaven by Christ and the Virgin Mary, surrounded by the four continents. Address Via del Caravita, 8a, 00186 Rome, Italy
