Introduction
The Teatro di Marcello is an open-air theater from the period of the Roman Republic, located in the Sant'Angelo district of Rome, and is once again a tourist attraction of the city. The theater is named after Marcus Marcellus, nephew of Emperor Augustus, who died before its completion. The theater has a diameter of 111 meters and originally could accommodate 11,000 spectators. It was mainly built of tuff, with Doric columns on the ground floor and Ionic columns on the middle floor. In 12 BC, the theater officially opened and became a place for locals and tourists to enjoy theatrical and musical performances. The theater has undergone several reconstructions since the Middle Ages, with its top tier and columns removed. The theater's history is closely linked to the history of ancient Rome and is now an important site for exploring the city's history and culture.
