Introduction

Santa Maria sopra Minerva is a Catholic church located in Rome, built between 1280 and 1370. It is the only Gothic church in Rome and is situated near the Pantheon, an important historical site. The church's iconic marble sculpture, "Christ Bearing the Cross" by Michelangelo, was completed in 1521 and depicts the Savior carrying the cross, located on the left side of the main altar. This church is not only a place of worship, but also a precious cultural treasure.
