Introduction
Beginning in 1221, a massive expansion transformed the Burgos Cathedral from a Romanesque church into a spectacular complex. The pointed spires on the two tall towers are impressively striking, and the exquisite stonework is unparalleled in its magnificence. Amongst the numerous sculptures, scenes from the Gospels vividly depict Jesus. Visitors can admire the Burgos Cross, the tombstones and coffins of Ximénez de Rada, the Golden Staircase, the Cloister and more remarkable sights, as well as the treasures displayed at the Cathedral Museum including paintings, tapestries, and the Holy Grail.
