Introduction

The hanging houses of Cuenca were built in the 15th century, perched on cliffs with their suspended wooden balconies giving the impression that they could collapse at any moment. Located on the banks of the Huécar River in the old town area of Cuenca, Spain, these hanging houses are civil buildings. The most famous of them is a three-story building with a suspended balcony design that is highly praised. Today, it houses the Spanish Museum of Abstract Art and various exhibitions are often held there.
