Introduction

According to legend, the foundation of this church can be traced back to the 14th century, when Bilbao was still just a resting place for fishermen and had not yet become a city. The church is named after the famous saint of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, Saint Santiago. The Gothic facade of the church is exquisite, and the Renaissance porch is equally impressive. In the Middle Ages, this church was used as a market and for holding civic meetings.
