Introduction

The Segovia Cathedral was built at the highest point of the ancient city of Segovia, and construction began during the reign of Carlos V. The original Romanesque church suffered a fire in 1520, and the architect Juan Gil de Hontanon built a completely new church on the same site while preserving some of the remaining structure. The cathedral was officially put into use in 1678. One of the main attractions of the church is a sculpture on the altar called "Mercy" created by Juan de Juni in 1571.

April to September: 9:30am-6:30pm.

Transportation

Bus: There are buses to Segovia from the bus station located at platform 08/09 on the first floor of Moncloa station on Metro Line 3. The one-way fare is 14.33 euros and the journey takes 1 hour 15 minutes.
