The Royal Botanical Garden, which was established in 1755, was created by King Ferdinand VI of Spain and collected over 2,000 different plant species at the time. In 1774, according to the orders of King Charles III, the botanical garden was relocated to its present location and continued to develop. By 1794, there were over 10,000 species of plants in the garden. After some changes, the garden temporarily closed for repairs in 1974 and reopened in 1981 to the public.
