Introduction
The National Archaeological Museum of Spain (Museo Arqueológico Nacional) was founded in 1867 with permission from Queen Isabella II of Spain. It was originally used to display royal collections of currency, archaeology, anthropology and decorative art objects. In 1895, the museum moved to its current location and underwent renovation in 2009. The museum's collection includes artifacts from prehistoric times, ancient Egypt, the Celts, Iberians, ancient Greece, ancient Rome and the Middle Ages. The unique and abundant collection showcases Spain's archaeological and cultural history to visitors.
