Introduction

The Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum is located within the Ibrahim Pasha Palace, on the west side of the Hippodrome. It is the first place in Turkish museums specifically dedicated to the collection of Turkish and Islamic art. The Ibrahim Pasha Palace was built in 1524 and its unique, sharply angular architectural style exudes a solemn atmosphere, making it one of the representatives of 16th-century Ottoman civil architecture. The Islamic calligraphy, tiles, carpets, and Turkish ethnography exhibited in the museum bear the unique Islamic civilization characteristics of Turkey, allowing people to better understand this cultural heritage.
