Introduction

Topkapi Palace is an old royal palace located at the junction of the Bosphorus Strait, the Golden Horn Bay, and the Sea of Marmara. For almost four hundred years, almost all of the sultans lived here to govern their country. Today, the palace has become a major tourist attraction in the area. In addition to being the main residence of the court, Topkapi Palace is also the seat of government. Access in and out of the palace is strictly limited, and people inside the palace do not dare to leave it recklessly. The rigorous court ceremony is the code of daily life in the palace, ensuring that it is not influenced by the outside world. One important principle is that they cannot speak in the inner court, which probably comes from the Byzantine court. Topkapi Palace's architectural style and hall construction also demonstrate this principle. Architects ensured that the sultan and his family enjoyed maximum privacy and freedom of movement within the palace by using lattice windows and secret passages. There are also various artists and craftsmen in the palace, collectively referred to as the Il-Ay Hirfan (talent group), who have produced many excellent works for the entire empire.
