Falun Beach, located 6 kilometers southwest of the city, is one of the most beautiful natural beaches in Europe, stretching for dozens of kilometers. The extension of the beach is on Ilha do Cabo de Santa Maria, the southernmost tip of mainland Portugal, which is sometimes called the "deserted island".
