Introduction

In 1979, the Svalbard Museum was built and located in the historic area of Longyearbyen city. In 2005, the museum was relocated to the Svalbard Science Centre, which is close to the Svalbard University Centre, the Norwegian Polar Institute, and the Svalbard Environmental Information Centre. The museum mainly exhibits the relationship between the natural, cultural, scenic, human, technological, and environmental aspects of the Arctic Circle, and is devoted to studying the impact of human activities over the past 400 years on the way of life and standards in Svalbard. At the same time, the museum categorizes and records collections of other museums in Svalbard for easy access to historical literature and records.
