Introduction

Rosenkrantz Tower is one of the most notable Renaissance-style buildings in Norway, located next to the Royal Hall. The oldest part of the tower was built around 1270 and was originally known as the "Seaside Castle". It was later expanded for military defense purposes. Climbing the narrow staircase to the top of the tower offers stunning views. The tower was once the official residence of King Eirik Magnusson and was named Rosenkrantz Tower. The building contains underground storage rooms, ruler's residences, and a top-level cannon mount. From 1740 to 1930, the tower was converted into a gunpowder and ammunition depot. It wasn't until 1966 that the tower was opened to the public as a tourist attraction. This image was taken by "Jan's fotoside".
