Introduction

As the administrative center of Istria, Pula preserves many buildings from the ancient Roman era, among which the most famous is the Pula Arena, built in the first century and also known as the Roman amphitheater. This is one of the six Roman arenas still standing in the world, and it is still used today as a venue for summer film festivals or concerts. However, during World War II, the Italian fascists attempted to move this arena to their mainland, but they soon abandoned the plan due to the high cost of relocation.
