Introduction

Shangcheng was established in the 17th century, but it could not meet demand due to the growth of commercial activities. In 1641, to meet commercial needs, the government of Sa decided to relocate the commercial center to Xiacheng and establish a new market on the Quanbian Square in Xiacheng. This market gradually became the new city center and was officially renamed Republic Square in 1850. In 1866, a statue of Governor Yelachs riding a horse was erected in the center of the square. After World War II, the statue was replaced with a statue of a guerrilla and renamed Republic Square. After Kryzhanovskiy, the statue of Governor Yelachs riding on horseback was moved back to its original location from the museum, and the square was restored to its original appearance.
