Introduction
Ateneum Art Museum is the most important art museum in Finland, located on Kaivokatu Street opposite the central square in Helsinki. The museum houses the most comprehensive collection of classical art in Finland, including watercolors and gouache paintings by many world-famous masters. In addition, Ateneum Art Museum regularly presents various other art exhibitions each year. On the first and second floors of the exhibition hall, there are three half-body sculptures of famous classical artists: architect Brant, painter Raphael, and sculptor Phidias. Four goddess sculptures on the third floor represent the four forms of classical art: architecture, painting, sculpture, and music. In addition, there are several Vallgren reliefs between the windows on the second floor, representing famous international artists in Finland. Since 2009, Ateneum Art Museum has opened a dedicated exhibition hall to showcase Japanese woodblock art. Address Kaivokatu 2, FI 00100 Helsinki, Finland
Opening hours Tuesday and Friday from 10:00 to 18:00, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 20:00, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00.
The museum is closed on Mondays.
Transportation Get off at Central Railway Station, Kaisaniemi station by taking the subway, or walk from the Central Railway Station, just across the street.
