Introduction

The Pey-Berland Tower is named after the 15th-century Archbishop Pey Berland and was built between 1440 and 1500. It is 66 meters tall and is crowned with a decoration, which is meant to isolate the vibrations caused by the bell from the rest of the church. Due to the church initially being unable to afford bells, the tower was used as a residence until 1790. It was later used as a factory inside the tower. In 1851, the bells were installed and began to be used. The Pey-Berland Tower remains one of the iconic buildings in the city of Bordeaux to this day.
