Introduction

Suzdal Trade Corridor, built during the era of the Russian Empire, is the first imperial-style building in the city. It is located in the city center and is popular among tourists. The building resembles an arched corridor with shops arranged in pairs. From 1806 to 1811, the provincial architect Alexey Vorshevsky designed the overall structure of the shopping mall. In the center of the lintel is a tall crowned spire, with the ancient and solemn gilded falcon emblem of Suzdal Grand Duchy attached to it. The northern part is single-story, while the southern part is two-story. There are over a hundred merchants in the mall, and even separate shops were built. In 1924, the southern building was demolished. In the 1970s, under the design guidance of O G Guseva and M. Sharonova, the eastern corridor was fully restored and a symmetrical western corridor was built, which used to be a warehouse yard located on the side of the Kamenka River.
