Introduction

The monastery, located in Vladimir, was built between 1158-1165 and was once the palace of Grand Duke Bogolyubski. It is now a convent. The "Bogolyubovo" small church, located 1.5 kilometers from the monastery on the Nerl River, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Grand Duke Andrei Bogolyubski established his own government and made Vladimir the capital, marking the first time that Vladimir became the capital of a Grand Duke. Under his rule, the Principality of Suzdal grew stronger, and he captured Kyiv, the "Mother of Russian Cities," in 1169, proclaiming himself the Grand Duke of Kyiv and making Vladimir the new political center of Russia. The monastery, including the White Stone Tower, is a historical site and part of the UNESCO World Heritage. However, it should be noted that photography of the nuns is prohibited. It is a rare opportunity to experience history and culture, just a short drive from Vladimir.
