During his reign, he engaged in 83 wars with the Polovtsians and convened three Grand Meetings of the Russian Princes to end internal strife and jointly resist the Polovtsians. He and his descendants established several new cities, including Vladimir, named after him. He was one of the most learned individuals among the Rus princes and had literary talent. His reign is considered the golden age of Kyivan Rus culture, and the state was at its strongest. He passed away in 1125 and was buried in Kiev's Saint Sophia Cathedral.
