Introduction
The Admiralty Area in Saint Petersburg is one of the city's most beautiful attractions. Originally designed as an area surrounded by apartments in 1716, Peter the Great later decided to make this shallow cape a cultural and commercial center. Between 1719 and 1721, 12 different institutions, including the Army, Judiciary, and Diplomacy, built their buildings in this area. Now, the main building of Saint Petersburg State University is located here, surrounded by many exchanges, office buildings, and churches. It used to be the busiest pier in Saint Petersburg, echoing with the Winter Palace and Peter and Paul Fortress, and was the core of the imperial capital. Nowadays, there are red columns of the Sea Gods on both ends of the old pier, serving as lighthouses in the area. The red columns of the Sea Gods, also known as the "Kissing Columns," used to be navigational lighthouses and are lit with torches on Victory Day and other holidays. From May to October each year, you can enjoy the flowing music fountain on the other side of the Neva River, towering up to 60 meters. Transportation Take the green line subway and get off at Василеостровская station, turn right and go straight to the river, then turn right and walk to the end; Or take bus number 10, 135, 191 to Биржевая пл. stop; Starting from Winter Palace, cross the bridge to arrive.
