Introduction

The General Staff Building of the Russian Empire is located opposite to the Winter Palace and is an important landmark in Saint Petersburg. Architect Rossi designed the Navy Department Building as a unique yellow and white curved structure, attracting the attention of tourists from all over the world. Additionally, Rossi also designed the square and the General Staff Building, one of which is the Triumphal Arch. The Triumphal Arch was built to commemorate the victory in the Russo-French War and has a statue of the goddess of victory on the roof. The front facade of the General Staff Building is approximately 580 meters long. The exhibition hall includes a display of 20th-century French artworks and the former residence of Count Nesselrode, the prime minister. In the square where the building is located, there is the Column of Nicholas in the middle, the Winter Palace on the north side, the Headquarters of the Guard on the east side, and the Navy Square leading to Nevsky Avenue on the west side. Transportation
You can choose to take the purple metro line to the Адмиралтейская station, turn left at the exit to the intersection, turn right and walk to Nevsky Prospekt, then turn left and you will see the building with a golden dome. Walk straight to the end to arrive; or take bus routes 10, 135, or minibuses K187, K209 to Адмиралтейский Пр station and cross the road to reach it. It is recommended to visit it when passing by between the Winter Palace and the Saint Isaac's Cathedral.
