Introduction

The War Memorial Square in Saint Petersburg is one of the oldest and most beautiful squares in the city. It has gone through various changes, from being a playground to a royal lawn, until it reached its peak in the construction projects of the 1920s. Prior to that, various recreational activities and firework celebrations were held here. However, starting from the 19th century, the square became a venue for military parades and drills, hence its name, War Memorial Square. The square is dominated by the statue of General Souvorov, a famous Russian military commander who is highly revered. On one side of the square stands the magnificent Pavlovsky Barracks, which spans hundreds of meters and is truly awe-inspiring. In the center of the square is the monument to the heroes of the revolution, with inscriptions forming pathways that extend to different directions, creating a network of shaded avenues. These avenues are adorned with shrubs and lawns, creating a refreshing and delightful atmosphere as if the entire square is immersed in a lush forest and green grass.

Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербург), established in 1703 on the marshland at the deepest point of the Gulf of Finland, showcases Peter the Great's ambition in its architectural style and natural landscapes. In the past 300 years, the city has undergone several name changes, from Leningrad to Petrograd, and now Saint Petersburg. Its fate has also been tumultuous, including experiencing the White Terror, enduring a 900-day siege, and witnessing the heroic defense during the Great Patriotic War. Its brilliance has never been overshadowed by gunfire or bloodshed. After protection and reconstruction, it remains "open, inclusive, and romantic"
