Introduction

The Catherine Palace in Pushkin, Russia, is filled with Baroque style. It was built in 1717 by Peter the Great for his future wife, Catherine I. However, in 1752, Catherine's daughter, Empress Elizabeth, deemed the palace outdated and ordered it to be demolished and rebuilt with over 100 kilograms of gold. Despite this, Catherine II made extensive modifications and expansions to the palace and its gardens according to her own preferences after she ascended the throne, to achieve a more fashionable style.
