Introduction

The Winter Palace Square is located in the center of St. Petersburg, Russia, with grand and majestic scale. The Hermitage Museum inside the Winter Palace houses numerous art treasures, allowing visitors to linger here. Looking out from the corridor, one can see the Alexander Column beneath the Winter Palace's grand arch, standing at a height of 47.5 meters and weighing 600 tons, yet it requires no support. At the top of the column is a snake symbolizing the enemy, being trampled underfoot by an angel holding a cross. The navy department's yellow building forms a wonderful contrast with the columns, bronze knights, and white outlined arches. Standing on the edge of the square, tourists will feel surrounded by a majestic atmosphere, as if they have become tiny little dots. The Alexander Column was erected to commemorate Alexander I and the victory in the 1812 war against France. It is the focal point of this square, surrounded by many other historical landmarks and buildings.

Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербург), established in 1703 on the marshland at the deepest point of the Gulf of Finland, showcases Peter the Great's ambition in its architectural style and natural landscapes. In the past 300 years, the city has undergone several name changes, from Leningrad to Petrograd, and now Saint Petersburg. Its fate has also been tumultuous, including experiencing the White Terror, enduring a 900-day siege, and witnessing the heroic defense during the Great Patriotic War. Its brilliance has never been overshadowed by gunfire or bloodshed. After protection and reconstruction, it remains "open, inclusive, and romantic"
