Introduction

The New Maiden Convent is located in the southwestern part of Moscow, and is one of the series of monastery buildings incorporated into the defense system of Moscow. The convent was built in the 16th to 17th centuries by Tsar Vasily III to commemorate the liberation of the ancient Russian city of Smolensk from Lithuanian rule. The monastery has a long history and is closely related to Russian political, cultural, and religious history. It was also a gathering place for the royal family and noblewomen. The interior of the convent is beautifully decorated and houses many important works of art, making it a prime example of Russia's architectural achievements. In addition, there is a cemetery within the convent called the New Maiden Cemetery, located in the southwest and with an entrance facing southeast. Many famous figures are buried here, including members and descendants of the royal family, with a diverse range of identities. For adventurous travelers looking to explore Russian history and culture, both the New Maiden Convent and the New Maiden Cemetery are must-see attractions.

Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербург), established in 1703 on the marshland at the deepest point of the Gulf of Finland, showcases Peter the Great's ambition in its architectural style and natural landscapes. In the past 300 years, the city has undergone several name changes, from Leningrad to Petrograd, and now Saint Petersburg. Its fate has also been tumultuous, including experiencing the White Terror, enduring a 900-day siege, and witnessing the heroic defense during the Great Patriotic War. Its brilliance has never been overshadowed by gunfire or bloodshed. After protection and reconstruction, it remains "open, inclusive, and romantic"
