Introduction

The Kazan Cathedral is located in the northeast corner of Red Square, Moscow, and is one of the important Orthodox churches in Russia. Like the Resurrection Gate and the Iberian Chapel, the Kazan Cathedral has also suffered from destruction. The original church was destroyed by Stalin in 1936, and the current building was rebuilt in 1993, making it the first rebuilt church after the fall of the Soviet Union. One particularly important aspect of the Kazan Cathedral is that on the day Moscow was liberated from Poland-Lithuania, religious processions led by bishops and the Tsar were held, attracting a large number of believers to participate.
