Introduction

St. Nicholas Church in Hamburg was destroyed in World War II and now remains as a ruin for commemoration. During its construction, the church was one of the five major Protestant churches in Hamburg and became one of the tallest buildings in the world between 1874 and 1876. Even today, this ruin is still the second tallest building in Hamburg.
