Studentenkarzer, A testament to youthful rebellion and historic graffiti
Augustinergasse 2, 69117 Heidelberg

Introduction
From 1823 to 1914, it was used as a place to imprison students who violated school rules. These students were often sentenced to varying lengths of confinement, ranging from two days to four weeks, for night-time drunkenness, commotion, or misconduct. It is worth mentioning that despite being confined, these students were still allowed to attend classes during the day. During their confinement, these students became extremely bored, but they discovered that carving and graffiti on the walls helped alleviate this boredom. Over the past century, these layers of graffiti have accumulated and become a unique landscape. Address Augustinergasse 2, 69117 Heidelberg
