Introduction

Frederiksborg Castle was built by Frederick II in 1560, including a church, a hall and a botanical garden, with 60 halls inside. This building adopts the architectural style of the Dutch Renaissance, and is one of the most prominent Renaissance-style buildings in northern Europe. Frederiksborg Castle was originally a private estate, but later the Danish King Frederick II exchanged it with a forest monastery and the owner of the estate, Holger Trolle, in order to pursue the favor of Queen Sofie.
