Introduction

On Sólheimasandur's black sand beach in southern Iceland, there is a wreckage of a plane that belongs to a US Navy C-47 aircraft that made an emergency landing on November 24, 1973. Although the crew members all survived at the time, the wreckage of the plane remains in the same spot till this day.
