Introduction

The Caoling Ancient Trail is located in the mountainous area between Gongliao District in New Taipei City and Dali in Toucheng Township, Yilan County. It is one of the remaining Qing Dynasty ancient trails in Taiwan and has been cleared and reconstructed to become a famous hiking route in northern Taiwan. The trail is 8.5 kilometers long and takes about 3-4 hours to complete. Along the trail, there are three pavilions, interpretive signs, a service area with a management office, and public restrooms. The Dali Visitor Center is also built at the entrance. The trail was built by the management office and local residents, who searched for the original route and paved it with stones to revive its vitality.
