Introduction

Nanfang'ao is a connected island located near the northern starting point of the Suao-Hualien Highway, connected to Suao. Facing the ocean and surrounded by sandbars, it has a unique terrain, making it one of the top natural harbors in eastern Taiwan and a miniature of Taiwan's fishing ports. The port of Nanfang'ao is very small, perfect for walking tours before dusk. In addition to seeing small attractions such as Neipi Beach, Tofu Cape, and Nan Tian Temple, you can also see fishing boats returning before sunset, loaded with fresh seafood at affordable prices. Climbing up the PaoTai Shan, a fortress relic from the end of the Qing Dynasty located along Highway 9, at an elevation of about 100 meters, you can overlook the entire fishing port. Nanfang'ao has an extremely abundant fish catch, making it one of the three major fishing industry towns in Taiwan. There are three fishing ports and markets, each with its own function and characteristics. The first fish market is auctioned by the fishing association around 2:00 pm every day; the second fish market is sold by the fishermen themselves, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm every day. There are various seafood and specialty shops on the Fishing Port Road next to the third fishing port, making it a gathering place for tourists.
