Introduction
Houtong Cat Village, also known as "Houtong Cat Street," is located in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. It is an ancient mountain village with traditional houses, centered around the Chailiao Road in the Guangfu li area. Since its development as a tourist attraction in late 2009, it has gained international acclaim. The Cat Village is home to many cats, who have become accustomed to visitors and some even seek human attention. In the evening, you can see numerous cats gathered, creating an exciting scene. The newly constructed Cat Bridge, which resembles a brown cat, was completed on March 30, 2013. It connects the Guangfu li community to the main road and also serves as a feeding platform for visitors, making it the first shared human-cat bridge in Taiwan. Apart from cats, Houtong is known for its rich mining culture and has attracted many famous directors to film here, including Wu Nien-jen's "A Borrowed Life" and "Ah Chung's Son," and Hou Hsiao-hsien's "Dust in the Wind." Unlike other tourist attractions in the Ruifang District, Houtong provides a sense of tranquility rather than a focus on commercialization. Its scenic beauty and cultural heritage have earned it a reputation around the world. Address Hezhong, staircase, Guangfu Village, Ruifang District, New Taipei City 224, Taiwan
