Introduction

Shifen Village is a small village in Pingxi Township, not the birthplace of sky lanterns. The birthplace of sky lanterns should be more accurately referred to as Pingxi Township. However, Shifen is famous for its "Shifen Waterfall," known as the "Niagara Falls of Taiwan," located in the township, hence why people associate sky lanterns with Pingxi, which has the reputation of being the "Town of Waterfalls".
