Introduction
Keelung Island is a volcanic island located in Zhongzheng District of Keelung City, northern Taiwan. It is only 6 kilometers away from Keelung Port, measuring 960 meters in length and 400 meters in width. The highest point on the island is 182 meters above sea level. Keelung Island is composed of amphibole, biotite, quartz, and andesite, forming one of the four volcanic islands in the waters outside of Keelung, along with Mianhua Island, Pengjia Island, and Huaping Island. The island is surrounded by cliffs and has very few flat areas. The main recreational facilities on the island are hiking trails and pavilions. It is known for its precious volcanic geological landscape and abundant native plant species, and visitors can often see birds such as the shrike, brown-headed thrush, and swifts flying around the island.
