Introduction

Luce Memorial Chapel, located in the campus of Tunghai University in Xitun District, Taichung City, Taiwan, was built from 1962 to 1963. Designed by I.M. Pei and Chen Chi-Kuan, the chapel is a Christian place of worship and serves as a symbol of Tunghai University. It is situated at the center of the campus, adjacent to the academic area and facing the residential area. In the early days of Tunghai University, the chapel could be seen from anywhere due to the sparse vegetation.
