Introduction

Taipei Fine Arts Museum is the first modern art museum in Taiwan and the first exhibition hall dedicated to promoting and showcasing modern art. It has become a renowned modern art museum in Asia. The museum was built in 1983 and features a cutting-edge, stacked white rectangular architecture. The "well"-shaped structure, which combines traditional and modern elements, incorporates traditional architectural features into the main structure, providing multiple possibilities for exhibitions. Like the Taipei World Trade Center, this architectural style was favored by Taiwanese designers in the 1980s. Currently, the museum houses over 3,000 collection pieces, mainly focusing on post-1940 Taiwanese contemporary art in 13 categories. In addition, the museum also regularly hosts major special exhibitions, and since 1998, it has held the Taipei Biennial every two years.
