Indonesia is not lacking in colonial-era architecture
3.6

Introduction

Located in the northern part of Jakarta, near Chinatown, the old town area has a rich Dutch colonial-era urban character, with clear architectural layouts. There is an old town square here, often hosting folk performances, surrounded by museums, cafes, and souvenir shops that cater to tourists at moderate prices. The former Old City Hall has been converted into a historical memorial museum. Visitors can also visit the Museum Wayang, Museum Mandiri, Museum Maritime (formerly a warehouse), and the Bank Indonesia Museum, some of which require an entrance fee. Even local residents enjoy strolling here during holidays, enjoying street performances, or meeting friends for a nostalgic date or meal.
