Introduction

The Jethavanaramaya Stupa, built in the 3rd century, is currently about 70 meters high. Originally 122 meters high, with a crystal pinnacle adding another 30 meters, it has a base diameter of 113 meters and a thickness of 8 meters. Together with the Jetavanarama Stupa, the Lovamahapaya and the Abhayagiri Dagoba, it forms the landmarks of Anuradhapura. In 1982, a valuable cultural heritage was discovered here, the Mahavamsa scriptures written in Sanskrit in the 9th century. In addition, there is a temple site behind the stupa, which still preserves an 8-meter-long pillar, buried 3 meters underground, which was built as a giant gate to welcome the Buddha image at that time.
