Introduction

Located on the road to "Lion Rock", the Sigiriya Museum's collection is closely intertwined with the history of this rock, and the museum also screens films introducing this massive architectural complex. Although the museum's location is slightly remote, it helps to better understand the history of this rock. Built in 2009 with the support of the JICA group, the museum has a rich display of exhibits, including unearthed cultural relics in and around Sigiriya, replicas of the "Sigiriya Women" murals, and video recordings that reproduce some ancient architectural ruins. In terms of design, the museum also emphasizes the coexistence of nature and architecture, with large trees integrated into the building and beautiful views of the Sigiriya rock formations visible inside. The entire building itself is also very eye-catching and worth a visit.
