Introduction
Negombo Lagoon is one of the famous lagoons in Sri Lanka, and it is also part of the Muthurawajawela Marsh-Negombo Lagoon and Coastal Wetland. The marshes and mangroves occupy a large area in the center of the lagoon, attracting many shorebirds such as cormorants, herons, egrets, and terns to reside here. These birds playing in the water add a charming scenery to the lakeside. Most of the fishermen around the lagoon offer tour packages, and you can choose different boat routes to listen to the sounds of various creatures coming from the distant marshes, which is a very mysterious and amazing experience. If you are an animal lover, it is recommended to come here to observe various birds, lizards, and other animals in the early morning or evening.
How to visit: Negombo Lagoon is located south of Negombo town and is quite large. It is recommended to start your tour from Hamilton Canal.
