Introduction
After entering the old town area of Galle, turn left along the city wall, pass through the old gate, and then turn right at the first intersection to reach the Historic Mansion. The interior of the building has been renovated based on ancient architecture and showcases a variety of gemstones and items salvaged from the seabed during the colonial period, such as antique typewriters, Chinese collectibles, porcelain, jewelry, etc., all with price tags for purchase. In addition, there are live demonstrations of gem cutting and lace weaving in the corridors. You can enter the museum for free and several staff members will introduce you to each important artifact. It's worth mentioning that the museum also has a jewelry store that specializes in selling gemstones and jewelry. Next to the gemstone display case in the store, there is also a display of jewelry from the Canty dynasty period, which is awe-inspiring. In addition to offering genuine products, the store also has affordable and exquisite replicas. For example, the original Canty dynasty bracelet is priced at $100, while the replica is only around $10. Opening hours Monday to Thursday, Saturday and Sunday: 9:00-17:30
Friday: 10:00-12:00, 14:00-17:30.
