Introduction
Mount Koya is a mountainous area located in the northeastern part of Wakayama Prefecture, with an elevation of approximately 1000 meters. It consists of multiple peaks and is part of the Koyasan-Ryujin Quasi-National Park. It is believed to have been a sacred place where gods gathered since ancient times. In 2004, Mount Koya was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as one of the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range." It is a place where various beliefs converge, and shrines and temples are not just individual buildings but cultural landscapes integrated with nature, possessing great cultural value.
